Exercise
Did you know that exercise that gets your heart rate up 3-4 times a week, has a greater effect on depression, than antidepressants?
Exercise is one of the natural ways our body balances stress, helps us recover, and helps us get good sleep.
What are the benefits of exercising?
Exercise helps offset the stress hormones that we would experience in our job.
It releases endorphins that offset against pain and help us deal with stress.
Did you know that if exercise at lunchtime helps us get over that energy slump in the middle of the day, post lunch?
How to get started?
Try and experiment with different types of exercise. Be curious.
Find a type of exercise that you enjoy. Even better if you can practice outside and with friends.
The first step is often the hardest one. Don't be put off if you're at the start and be kind to yourself along the way.
Make it part of your routine. You will look forward to it. Put a podcast on or some music and go enjoy it.
Your task:
Find your thing. It's out there for you.
If you found the exercise you enjoy, great! Do more of it. Schedule it in your day.
If you haven't found it, experiment. Try different things.
Exercise is a crucial way of managing our wellbeing.
